the home of one of the fastest growing musical styles on the planet - African Hip Hop. As most cats in the African hip hop game will know, our scene has been brewing on the underground for a long time although it's only in the last few years that the music industry has begun to acknowledge our genre. What has always held African Hip Hop back is a struggle for our own identity, our own sound - something that belongs to us and is not a second rate replication of the Western sound. Sure we all grew up on US Hip Hop, we acknowledge that and we are grateful for the opportunities it has created for us but one cannot deny that the true essence of Hip Hop is "keeping it real". Once we started to learn to do this we planted the fertile seeds that are now seeing our industry grow.
